What is Capistrano?

Capistrano is a powerful tool for streamlining automation and synchronization for all of your Rails deployment tasks.

Although Capistrano is designed with Ruby on Rails in mind, it is not limited to Rails deployment and is great for automating a range of tasks over SSH including software installation and configuration management.

Capistrano's configuration files use the Ruby programming language syntax, but you don't need to be a Ruby expert to customize Capistrano. For experienced Ruby programmers, Capistrano is easy to extend by writing additional Ruby modules.
