FutureServe Green Hosting

Spend a few moments on our site and it doesn't take long to see our pride for our support team and the reliability of our service. We're also very proud of our Ann Arbor roots. This was where A2 Hosting was founded back in 2003 and where we've been headquartered ever since. In fact the "A2" in our name is actually an abbreviation for Ann Arbor.

If you're ever in Ann Arbor, make sure to take a walk around town. You're bound to come across one of Ann Arbor's 150+ parks or 50,000+ trees. It's no coincidence Ann Arbor is nicknamed Tree Town!

Being based in Ann Arbor is just one of the reasons we feel it's so essential to help protect our environment on not just a local level, but on a global one as well. Protecting the environment for our future generations; that in a nutshell explains the goal of FutureServe Green Hosting.

Partnership with Carbonfund.org

Since 2007 we have partnered with Carbonfund.org to offset our carbon footprint to be 100% carbon neutral. They are a leading organization in the fight against global climate change. We work with Carbonfund.org to fully offset our servers' CO2 emmissions. Their work centers on reforestation and promoting energy efficiency. A2 Hosting's partnership with Carbonfund.org helps their continued development of clean, renewable sources of energy and the reduction of CO2 emissions on a global scale.

Our Green Practices

  • Geothermal Data Center - Our Iceland data center is 100% green! It uses natural cooling technology that pulls in frigid outside air into its cooling unit. This technology runs the data center at very low power usage effectiveness (PUE) levels. No carbon footprint is made!
  • Telcommuting – To prevent unnecessary CO2 emmissions from daily commutes to an office, our employees work remotely from their homes. Sure we need to get together from time to time, so our employees are happy to carpool.
  • Recycling Older Servers – Instead of tossing our older equipment into a landfill, we re-use it. Our retired hardware is used as internal servers, dedicated servers for clients with lower resource requirements and is resold to the public.
  • Planting Trees – We've been known to run special promotions, including planting 3-trees for every hosting package sold during a given month.
  • Reducing Trash – Have you ever had fun taking the trash out? Neither have we! We reduce our waste as much as possible with practices like using coffee mugs instead of disposable coffee cups.
