Advantages of Custom Nameservers
Custom nameservers are a fantastic branding tool. If you do not want your customers to know what web hosting company that you use, custom nameservers provide the transparency that you're looking for. A custom name server can also make your hosting company appear larger than it actually is.
If you are hosting someone's website and they decide to lookup their own whois information, they are going to see ns1.a2hosting.com and ns1.a2hosting.com as their nameservers. Wouldn't you rather see your website or company listed instead?
The same can be said if a customer who already owns their domain name purchases a hosting account from you. With custom name servers, your customer will point their domain to your personalized nameservers instead of ours.

What Is A Nameserver?
Every website has an IP address. A website is actually found by this IP address, not by its domain name. A name server translates a domain name into an IP address. This informs the Internet where to find your website and where to deliver your email to. Instead of typing out a hard to remember IP address (i.e. 69.39.89.15) to visit a website, name servers make it possible to just type in the domain name (i.e. http://www.a2hosting.com).
Every domain name must have a minimum of two listed nameservers. The first nameserver is the primary server while the second one is the backup server used in case the primary server does not initially respond. They are most commonly named ns1.servername.com and ns2.servername.com.
