How to install Perl modules using cPanel

This article describes how to use cPanel to install Perl modules on your web site. The cPanel Perl Modules feature installs modules directly from the CPAN (Comprehensive Perl Archive Network) repository.

Installing a Perl module

To install a Perl module, follow these steps:

  1. In the Software/Services section of the cPanel home screen, click Perl Modules. The Perl Module Installer page appears.
  2. Under Location of Your Perl Module(s), the listed path is incorrect. Because A2 Hosting servers run Perl 5, the correct path is /home/username/perl5.
  3. Install the Perl module:
    • To search for a Perl module, type the name in the Search text box and then click Go. For example, to search for modules related to sorting, type sort. When you find the module that you want to install, click Install.
    • Alternatively, if you already know the name of the module that you want to install, type the module name and then click Install Now.
    • To view a list of all Perl modules available for installation, click Show Available Perl Module(s).
    • To view a list of Perl modules installed systemwide, click Show System Installed Modules.
  4. When installation is complete, click Go Back. You can now include the module in your Perl script files.
