Setting up New Relic on a managed VPS or Flex Dedicated Server
New Relic is a third-party product that you can use to monitor server performance in real-time.
The information in this article only applies to the products listed in the Article Details sidebar. You cannot use New Relic on shared or reseller hosting accounts.
Setting up New Relic
To set up and use New Relic on your server, follow these steps:
Sign up for a New Relic account at http://www.newrelic.com.
During the account signup process, New Relic generates a license key for your account. Copy the license key and store it in a safe location.
Open a support ticket on the A2 Hosting Customer Portal at https://my.a2hosting.com. In the ticket, please provide the following information:
Your license key: We must have this information to complete the installation process on your server.
What you want to monitor: By default, New Relic monitors MySQL, but it can also monitor PHP. If you want New Relic to also monitor PHP, please specify this in the ticket.
Do not try to install the New Relic agent yourself. The agent installation process requires root access, and must be done by A2 Hosting support.
After A2 Hosting support completes the installation process, you can use the New Relic dashboard to monitor your server. For more information about the New Relic user interface, please visit https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/site/the-new-relic-ui.
