What is Pydio?

Pydio is a highly flexible file management, synchronization and document sharing software solution. Pydio was actually created and developed by the musician Charles Du Jeu. He needed a user-friendly and efficient way to share larger audio files with his band members. Pydio became the solution! Previously named AjaXplorer, Pydio can be installed on your server to immediately offer you a high powered file management solution. The name is an acronym meaning Put Your Data In Orbit. The PHP-based solution makes it possible for you to organize and access your most important files regardless of where you are located. It provides a secure alternative to public storage clouds where you ultimately have no idea who or what you’re sharing a server with. You are also able to keep full ownership of your files as opposed to competing solutions. Since Pydio is a fully customizable solution, you can even use your existing file instracture or set up a brand new one specifically dedicated to your organization, customers or project.
