On September 6, 2019, the Exim team disclosed a security bug within their software. A2 Hosting has already got you covered taking the necessary actions to protect our customers from this issue.
Below is a summary of the issue and how A2 Hosting has already responded accordingly.
What is Exim?
Exim is the most used mail transfer agent (MTA) in use today. MTA is a software solution that delivers email messages from one computer to another with SMTP. Exim is used on over half of all Internet mail servers.
What was the potential Exim exploit?
When exploited, this bug would grant remote or unauthenticated attackers the ability to take complete control of the server and run malicious code via root access.
What was A2 Hosting’s response?
The Exim team has since released an update to their software that patched the exploit. A2 Hosting’s Engineering team is on top of this issue with patching started immediately after the Exim bug was announced.
